BlackBerry Enterprise Server

The BlackBerry Server software is designed for organisations that have their own email server; Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes or Novell Groupwise.

There are two versions of the BlackBerry Server depending on the number of BlackBerry users your organisation has or might grow to.

  • BlackBerry Professional Software (BPS) starts at one user and grows to thirty – and it can be downloaded for free for the first user.
  • If you need to expand beyond 30 users then you will need to upgrade to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES).
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) starts at 20 users and can go all the way up to several thousand users.

Both of these versions of the BlackBerry Server software operate in the same way.

The steps in receiving an email are as follows:

  • The email message is sent
  • Message arrives at your email server and is forwarded to your PC.
  • The BlackBerry Enterprise server compresses, encrypts and sends the message automatically to your BlackBerry handset.
  • Your message arrives at the BlackBerry via the Internet and the cellular carriers network.
  • The handheld receives, decrypts and decompresses the email and alerts the user.

Security, Management and Support.

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server connects to your company’s existing LAN and works in tandem with your email server (e.g. Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino or Novell Groupwise).

Security

  • Triple DES Encryption
  • AES Encryption secures your communications.

This ultra-tough encryption is why BlackBerry has been so popular all over the world with government organisations and financial institutions.

Management

  • Simplified management
  • Centralised control of all BlackBerry users.

The server remains under the complete control of your IT department or we can remotely administer it for you.

Support

  • Voicecom Technologies – we can support all aspects of your BlackBerry service.
